We're taught all the time that normal stress is healthy. But when stress gets out of the normal bounds, that’s when it becomes dangerous and destructive – physically, mentally, and spiritually.
On the other hand, self-sabotage is a choice. It’s where you are choosing to do harm to yourself, which in the end, creates a tremendous amount of stress.
Here are ways to help you overcome stress and self-sabotage:
How to overcome self-sabotage
- Have a healthy support system.
Have someone who you can bounce ideas off of. Financial transformations are fueled by partnerships. These people may not necessarily give you the answer you want, but they’re going to give you the answer you need.
- Be committed to what's real.
Be completely honest with yourself. The key is when you're willing to face whatever it is that you need to face.
- Set healthy boundaries.
Sometimes, those people you brought in around you are not healthy and it's up to you to be willing to set some healthy boundaries with those folks.
- Time with victories heals all wounds.
If you're not doing things to help to create some victories, you're not moving forward to a more healthy place. This is where the micro-changes come into play. There are many things you could be willing to do, but there has to be a choice made in terms of your health, your relationships, etc. You can start by caring about yourself.
- Be kind to yourself.
The Bible says to be kind to your enemies. And in self-sabotage, you're sort of at war with yourself. You are then your own enemy. Therefore, be kind to yourself. Love your enemy so love yourself.
- Choose to improve yourself.
As much as self-sabotage is a choice, improving is a choice as well. So choose health and choose positive change.
