Welcome! In today's show, we talked about the exciting topic of insurance. Yes, insurance IS an exciting topic, when you understand how important it is for protecting your online business, and when you have awesome guests like Josh and Jared from TIS Insurance, who make it easy to understand.
In the same way that you need a CPA in your corner, you need an insurance professional in your corner. The right insurance agent will educate and help you make informed choices about the types of insurance you need for your business, and which options you can pass on.
Here's what you'll learn:
- What a cyber-media policy is, and why you may need one — even if you have a brick and mortar store
- A HUGE misconception regarding how insurance agents are compensation
- The value of using an independent insurance agent
- How insurance companies define ecommerce
- Why you can be sued if your payment processor (e.g. PayPal) messes up — even if it's not your fault
- How the simple act of filling a bathtub got one company in hot water
Praise Party
This week we're going to share a little bit of praise about a Twitter party that happened between Liz Slatham at @HoosierHomeMade and Shane and Jocelyn Samms, @FlippedLS on Twitter. @HoosierHomeMade is a new client for The Bottom Line.
After our free discovery call they tweeted to Shane and Jocelyn, “Thanks for the recommendation for @TheBttmLineCPA. We have been needing to get started for years. They are great.” They went on to say, “They are awesome, CPAs who actually understand online business.”
That's music to our ears, because that's exactly our goal here at The Bottom Line!
Conversations and Celebrations
This is the segment of our podcast where we tell a true story from a client or a situation that we've been involved in through the current week.
In this episode we shared about a conversation we had with a lady who is a bookkeeper from New York, who recently converted from Quickbooks to Xero. Being new to Xero, she struggled a bit for various reasons to get some of her clients moved over.
Looking for help, she called about 30 accountants, one of them being a man who had been an accountant for 30 years. He told her she'd never make it as an accountant using an online business model, because (according to him), people want to deal with their accountant face-to-face.
She decided to call us before switching back to Quickbooks. We had a great conversation, and after our call, she decided to stick with Xero, which is great, and even better, now we have a relationship with a bookkeeper in New York!
The Power Play
In the Power Play, we give you one action to take to move your business forward. Today's Power Play is to have a conversation with your insurance agent. If you don't have one, find one! We personally recommend TIS Insurance. You can find all the information you need about them at the end of this post.
We hope that our podcast inspires you and provides helpful information as you build your online business!
