What does your desk say about you?
Are you the cluttered or clean desk type? Do you have post-it notes all over or is the OCD-ness in you evident in your desk being filled with Clorox wipes, air spray, and all the other cleaning supplies you have?
Our desks actually tell a lot about us and how we work.
At the end of the day, you have to make it your own. It’s your personality and it’s your history. Do whatever helps you create your magic in the world.
What Your Desk Says About You
There are different strokes for different folks. We all have different personalities, histories, and ways of motivating ourselves. How your desk looks can speak for you even when you’re not present. It could convey a message to “respect the owner,” it could say that you're a creative person, or it could say that finding a file may take a while.
Do whatever helps you create your magic in the world. Make your desk your own no matter how chaotic that may be.
What Does It Have to Do with Pay Play Profit?
Your environment and workspace impact you which also always impacts your pay, play, and profit. Where we work and how we work are going to create the pay, play, and profit we're hoping for.
Now, if you're going to spend 30 to 40 hours a week working, you want to be in a space where you can be productive and inspired. You want to feel comfortable but not so comfortable that you can't be challenged.
If you have employees, you also have to be curious about what their space is like because their workplace safety is your priority even if they're working from home. They still have workers comp that you have to provide and their home office becomes an extension of your company.
Make sure they’re working in a safe environment that’s free from trip hazards and make sure that they have all their tools and resources properly plugged up. Taking care of the environment they’re working in is not only for their well-being but also for the safety and protection of your company.
